Farewell Grandeur: Lost Mansions and Houses of Southern Scotland
Whilst the fine houses of Mellerstain, Paxton, Traquair and Abbotsford are architectural treasures, many other similar buildings have been been lost. Dan Sweeney will give a talk based on his book Faded Grandeur: Lost Mansions and Houses of Southern Scotland, which was published in May 2024. Dan chronicles 104 of these houses in his book and his Peebles Civic Society talk will discuss some of these and highlight their legacy across this beautiful part of Scotland.
