Getting Here

Bus:

  • The Eastgate is located directly opposite the main Peebles Bus Stop (outside the post office) and the building is accessed from Venlaw Road. A number of bus services run directly to the Eastgate. The main one being the Border Buses X62 running from Melrose via Galashiels, and Penicuik through to Edinburgh.  Check out the timetable on the Border Buses website. The X62 heading to Edinburgh or to Melrose both leave from the Post Office bus stop.

Car/Taxi:

  • Car drivers approach Peebles on either the A72 from Biggar and Galashiels, or the A703 from Edinburgh.

Parking:

  • There is a large car park on Edinburgh Road (A703) a couple of minutes walk from the theatre. It has dedicated disabled spaces and parking is free except on Saturdays when there is a small charge via RingGo – 12662.
  • There are also 3 Electric Car charging points.

Accessibility

The Eastgate is designed to make it accessible to a broad spectrum of customers and performers, whether or not they have special needs.  There are a number of specific facilities in place to support disabled customers and performers.

These include:

  • Easy one-level access to café bar, studio and toilets on the ground floor
  • Moveable tables and chairs in the cafe/foyer
  • Passenger lift to the first floor auditorium
  • Six spaces for wheelchairs in the auditorium
  • Performers’ toilet and shower with wheelchair access
  • Assist dogs are welcome
  • Visitors with wheelchairs or push chairs can access the Eastgate by using the ramped entrance to the front of the building
  • There is a push pad to open automatic front doors
