The Eastgate has always been a community venue with long standing relationships with individuals, community arts groups, suppliers and neighbours. Their continuing support is vital, helping with all sorts of costs – those associated with a specific show, workshop, exhibition, or other activities. Funds donated can be used to guarantee artists’ fees, provide equipment, contribute to marketing and publicity, cover hospitality costs, and other operational items.
Additionally, donated funds can make a significant difference to the Eastgate’s schedule of events – for example securing an extra high-quality performance in the auditorium, contributing towards the cost of the theatre’s outreach programme or supporting the training and management of the team of volunteers.
The Eastgate is particularly keen to develop long-term relationships, lasting a year or more, with contributors who would like to make an ongoing commitment to the work of the theatre. This type of funding helps the Eastgate to plan further into the future with strategic artistic planning, building creative partnerships, extending education and outreach programmes, growing the audience base and raising the profile of Peebles and the surrounding area as a centre for creativity in the Scottish Borders.
