Freelance Fundraiser: Job Opportunity: deadline 5 pm, Tuesday 8th July 2025
Eastgate Theatre & Arts Centre is seeking an experienced Freelance Fundraiser to support its ambitious programme of artistic and participatory work. This is a part-time freelance opportunity (1–2 days per week) for an initial six-month period, with a day rate of £250–£300 depending on experience. Flexible working is available, though occasional in-person meetings in Peebles will be encouraged.
Under new leadership since Autumn 2024, Eastgate Theatre has entered an exciting new phase of development. Based in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, the Eastgate is a vibrant cultural hub presenting theatre, music, dance, comedy, film, and visual art. We deliver a wide range of creative and wellbeing-focused participatory programmes, and serve over 30,000 visits each year from across Tweeddale and beyond.
The Freelance Fundraiser will work closely with the Executive & Creative Director to develop and implement a coordinated fundraising strategy, with a focus on securing income from trusts, foundations, and individual giving. You will help shape our approach, identify opportunities, write compelling funding applications, and contribute to Eastgate’s long-term sustainability.
We are looking for someone with:
-
A strong track record in securing income from charitable trusts and foundations
-
Excellent written communication skills and the ability to turn ideas into persuasive funding proposals
-
Strategic insight, initiative, and the ability to work independently
-
An interest in the arts, community engagement, and cultural life in rural areas
This is an opportunity to make a real difference at a key moment for Eastgate Theatre, helping to secure the resources needed to support a growing programme, deepen community impact, and invest in the future of a much-loved local arts venue.
To apply, please send your CV and a short covering note (max one page) outlining your relevant experience and interest in the role to fraser@eastgatearts.com by Tuesday 8th July, 5pm.
