Join us in Peebles for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to journey through the extraordinary musical and emotional landscape of Shostakovich’s quartets, delivered by one of the world’s leading chamber ensembles.

This exclusive performance is the only complete Shostakovich quartet cycle taking place in Scotland this year and coincides with the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death, offering a fitting tribute to one of the 20th century’s most profound and enigmatic musical voices.

From the delicate innocence of the early quartets to the haunting intensity of the later works, Shostakovich’s quartets represent an unmatched journey through personal, political, and artistic turmoil. This is a unique opportunity to experience them as they were meant to be heard—as a cohesive, immersive body of work.

The Brodsky Quartet, now in its 52nd year, is synonymous with excellence in chamber music. Having performed over 3,500 concerts worldwide and released more than 70 acclaimed recordings, the quartet is globally celebrated for its adventurous spirit, technical brilliance, and interpretive depth. Their landmark performance of the complete Shostakovich quartets at London’s Kings Place in 2012 cemented their international reputation and led to a ten-year artistic residency.
