EASTGATE THEATRE

Privacy Policy

At the Eastgate we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our customers, users of our ticketing system (in person, on the ‘phone and online), the artists, tutors and organisations that we partner and visitors to our website.  We do not share email lists with any other organisation without your express permission.

This privacy policy is a bit longer than previously because we want to let you know when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

Website

When someone visits www.eastgatearts.com we use, Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Wifi

We offer guest wifi as part of our customer service.  We do not collect any data about your usage.

Mailing Lists

As part of the ticket buying process, we collect personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to send you the season brochure (by email or in hard copy) tell you about different events that might interest you; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information e.g. the rescheduling of an event or a refund. We will only share email lists with partner arts organisations (e.g. Music in Peebles, Tweeddale Society) if we have a Data Sharing Agreement with them and with your express consent.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver news. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our effectiveness. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing our data protection officer Maggie Mackay at marketing@eastgatearts.com.

Ticketing Data

When you buy a ticket (or tickets), merchandise, friends membership or gift voucher(s) through the Eastgate Theatre Box Office or online your name, address data, email and contact number will be stored in our Box Office system (Via) which uses cloud based servers. You may, of course, buy a ticket (or tickets) in person or over the ‘phone without any personal data being recorded on computer.  We would only share your personal information with partner organisations with your express consent and where we were assured that the organisation complies with current data protection laws.

Working with Partners or a Ticket Agency

Many of the events at the Eastgate are presented in partnership with other artistic organisations such as Music in Peebles, Tweed Theatre, Tweeddale Society, and other promoters.  We will only share your personal information with them if you have agreed to this at the time of booking.  If we have your express consent we will share basic contact information only – never your payment details.

The Eastgate also acts as a ticket agent for different organisations presenting events outside the theatre (e.g. Shakespeare at Traquair).  Again, we would only share your information with them if we have a Data Sharing Agreement and you have given your express consent.
