This is an exciting opportunity to join a much-loved theatre and arts centre in the Scottish Borders. The Marketing and Sales Manager is an important role and has the responsibility for marketing the venue through print, social media and digital; managing the box office and all aspects of ticket sales and audience development. Working with the Director, Press Manager, Designer, box office volunteers and the rest of the team at the Eastgate Theatre & Arts Centre, Peebles.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To manage marketing and promotion of the venue
- To maximise sales and ensure high standards of customer service
- To lead on all aspects of ticketing for bookings and related sales in liaison with the Director, Assistant Events Manager and Assistant Venue Manager
- To create and deliver the audience development strategy
Marketing
- Collating, creating and producing the quarterly brochure and other printed matter alongside the Director and Designer
- Producing effective copy and proof-reading all printed, digital and other marketing and promotional matter
- Implement, manage and administer the digital and social media outlets
- Liaise with the Director and Press Officer to produce a press and communications strategy
Sales
- Plan and deliver the sales strategy with the Director
- Oversee the Box Office team and manage the volunteers
- Plan and deliver the audience development strategy with the Director and other members of the management team
Person Specification
- A good level of education, a degree in Marketing is desirable or equivalent experience
- Experience of Marketing for a minimum of 3 years
- Experience using a point of sale or ticketing system for a minimum of 3 years
- Cash handling, banking and reconciliation
- Managing budgets and monitoring targets
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Box office and booking software)
- Experience working in an arts venue is desirable
- Excellent customer service skills
- A strong focus on delivering excellent oral and written communications
- Team player who works well with others and is a people person
- Presentable, honest, reliable and professional with an approachable manner
- Willing to work flexible hours if needed
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Term of Employment: Full time, permanent position
Place of Work: Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre, Peebles EH45 8AD
Start Date: March 2023
Salary: from £26,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: 35 (including break) Monday to Friday; with some evening and weekend work, if needed
Holidays: 20 days per year including Christmas shutdown plus Bank Holidays
