As well as a year-round programme of live performances, films, classes and exhibitions, the Eastgate also hosts an eye-catching range of festivals throughout the year:

Creative Peebles Festival, Friday 23 August – Sunday 1 September 2019

This year’s festival launched with the fantastic Open Galleries Evening on Friday when 14 different galleries , studios, workshops and even a fishmonger opened from 6pm – 9pm showing a huge range of visual art to suit all budgets.   The art passport proved to be a great success with the winner standing to win £200 to spend in one of the galleries.

During the rest of the week  the creative people of Peebles celebrated as arts groups, musicians, poets, film makers and craftspeople staged performances, walks, talks and explorations, enjoying everything from a very famous dessicated rat in Neidpath Castle to the annual busking competition in the High Street, herb growing to a strictly glamorous evening of dance in the Peebles Hydro Ballroom.

Read-a-licious, Tuesday 19 – Friday 22 November 2019

Each year, hundreds of pupils of all ages from nursery to high school, head for the Eastgate for days of workshops and different sessions celebrating writing and creative activities with some of the finest authors writing for children today.

This year the writers include Lea Taylor, Andy Seed and Emily Dodd.   There are also free drop in storytelling sessions for children every day at 10.30am in the Eastgate Cafe.

Peebles Outdoor Film Festival, Fri 24 – Sun 26 January 2020

An exhilarating weekend of adventure films from around the world, inspirational speakers and outdoor fun. This year’s speakers include local heroes and big names (including a World Record holder and a Paralympic Gold Medallist) from the worlds of endurance cycling, adventure filmmaking, Arctic exploration, trail running, hand cycling, outdoor swimming and more.
