Yorkston Thorne Khan

Tue 27 October

Don’t know yet.

Three brilliant, yet very different, musicians come together to make a joyous sound.

Due to COVID 19  restictions, this show is planned for the re-opening season, but not confirmed. Tickets will be on sale just as soon as the situation is clarified. Please check back in on the site for updates.

We are sorry to announce that this performance has been postponed due to the developing situation with Coronavirus. The intention is for Yorkston Thorne Khan to perform with us at a later date when they resume their tour. We will advise as soon as further details are available.

James Yorkston is one of the most influential singer/songwriters on the Scottish folk scene –  guitar, nyckelharpa and voice; Jon Thorne is best known as jazz double bass player with electro outfit Lamb, and Suhail Yusuf Khan is a multi-award winning 8th generation sarangi player and classical/sufi singer from New Delhi.

In performance each musician brings his own individual influences to the fore then they playfully react to one another.  This is the joyous sound of three friends having fun, improvisations housed in considered compositions, traditional songs and ragas from the UK, Ireland and India.  They are playing music from their new album Navarasa: Nine Emotions.

Since meeting in 2015 Yorkston Thorne Khan have toured India, Denmark, Ireland and the UK and played virtually every important festival in the world.
