What bonds a man to a bear? What might be a bear’s view of humanity, war, love? Is man or bear closer to nature and God?
This new production by Tweed Theatre tells the extraordinary true story of Wojtek the soldier bear as he travels through war and peace with his adoptive “mother” Piotr, a Polish soldier and Gulag survivor. As the show opens, these are two spirits in search of each other, longing to relive comic trials and tribulations, but fearful of what lies in store for them as they seek love, understanding and forgiveness.
Wojtek the bear died in Edinburgh Zoo in 1963. Lance Corporal Prendys died five years later.
