Kerri Andrews, Peebles-based author of Wanderers – A History of Women Walking leads a classic 6K walk  around Peebles.

Join Kerri Andrews, Peebles-based author of Wanderers – A History of Women Walking, for a classic local circuit (6km) that heads through lovely Hay Lodge Park before passing the imposing Neidpath Castle and returning through atmospheric woodland and a disused railway tunnel (bring a torch!). Along the way, Kerri will chat about how, through a series of intimate portraits, her book traces the steps of 10 path-finding women wanderers – including Virginia Woolf, Nan Shepherd and Cheryl Strayed – who, over the past 300 years, found walking essential to their sense of themselves, as people and as writers. Start and finish the walk at the  Eastgate Theatre where you can arrange a book signing then treat yourself to coffee and cake in the Eastgate café.

A wild portrayal of the passion and spirit of female walkers and the deep sense of ‘knowing’ that they found along the path.”
