CANCELLED: Wild Horizons: Shorts Programme

UPDATE: With the ongoing severe weather conditions, this event is now CANCELLED. Tickets holders will be contacted by Box Office directly. Friday Selection A mix of short films – from fast and wild to more contemplative – that celebrate outdoor adventure and exploration in all its forms. Our Friday programme will feature the following short films: Puffling, Jessica Bishopp Every summer, on a remote island off the coast of Iceland, young puffins leaving their nests for the first time often get lost in the town, mistaking the harbour lights for the moon rising over the ocean. This coming-of-age documentary follows two teenagers as they drive through town rescuing pufflings who have lost their way. Illuminating the challenge of setting out into an uncertain world, this film explores the delicate interplay of wild and human lives. Rebirth A short documentary about an adaptive surfer’s journey to restart. Rubbish Run Whilst driving to the tip one day, Beau Miles noticed how much rubbish was on the roadside. He thought ‘gee, I’m heading to the tip, I really should pick up the rubbish on my way!’ But no, with too little time, nor space in the trailer, he just went about his predictable business and the rubbish stayed where it lay. This day of newness is about making good of that idea and going to the tip with an empty trailer, filling it on the way Tether A shot documentary about UK professional skateboarder Lois Pendlebury and her unplanned transition to shepherding. Flow Flow features The Trailrippers – Nathan and Ruben de Vaux – two mountain biking brothers from the Dyfi Valley in Mid Wales who are already making their mark on the British MTB scene. Riding and racing mean everything to Nathan and Ruben and this short film tells their family story with the help of their Mum, Ina. Together, they tell us how they first got into riding and then racing and the benefits and challenges that neurodivergence brings to their riding and how riding bikes helps them regulate their lives. Flow sees The Trailrippers riding on their home trails, at Dyfi Bike Park and the Glencoe round of the British Cycling National Downhill Series in 2023. Momo From the humble beginnings of a small African village to the dazzling heights of Cirque du Soleil, ‘Momo’ shares the story of a man who defied gravity and destiny. This short film is a celebration of resilience and the magic of flight, where Momo doesn’t just perform – he transcends. Each session is different.
