TSoC: The Scottish Women’s Land Army

Jessica Evershed, BA(Hons)Pg Dip gives an overview of the Scottish Women’s Land Army using archival collections from the National Records of Scotland. Jessica has ploughed through the records to give insight into what daily life looked like for a typical ‘Land Girl’, profiling some of the female workers who replaced the men who had joined military forces during the Second World War. These women played a vital role in the war effort contributing to the production of food and kept vital industries supplied with timber during the war and its immediate aftermath.
