Shakespeare at Traquair presents The Merchant of Venice

Shakespeare returns to the stunning grounds of Traquair House. Following last year’s
thrilling production of Richard III, the company are tackling a less dark but equally thought-
provoking tale of money and mercy, prejudice and social injustice. The Merchant of Venice
may be over 400 years old, but its messages about love and humanity are just as relevant
for audiences today.
The performances are outside in the grounds of Traquair House, with the audience walking
from scene to scene. They take place whatever the weather, so please come prepared with
suitable clothing and footwear. The play begins at 7.30pm promptly, so make sure you have
plenty of time to park your car and walk to the start.
