The Maggie

This 1954 Ealing comedy is based on Neil Munro’s Para Handy tales.   A hard-nosed US businessman needs cargo shipped to his new home on a Scottish island.  He thinks a ship has been commissioned to do the work but finds he has unwittingly hired the captain of an old west coast puffer – The Maggie.   As the businessman tries to get out of the contract he is out witted by the wily crew led by Captain Mactaggart.
