Tales and legends told in words, song and the music of the clarsach.

Escape the dreich winter weather with a new series of five heart-warming Wednesday afternoon storytelling sessions in the Eastgate’s Anne Younger Studio – followed by soup and a sandwich.

Heather is telling tales and legends celebrating the beginning of Spring using her own mix of words, song and the music of the clarsach.   She grew up surrounded by storytelling, literature, theatre and music, led by her mother Dr Barbara McDermitt, an academic studying folk narrative at the School of Scottish Studies at Edinburgh University.

Since then, through her own work, and observing that being done by colleagues, she has seen how the medium of story can not only entertain and educate but also heal emotional wounds and nurture inclusion, while reaching out to all ages and backgrounds.

Stories and soup is presented with the help of Traditional Arts Culture Scotland (TRACS) at Edinburgh’s Storytelling Centre.
