Proposed Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill.

Humanist Society Scotland has long campaigned for compassionate choice at the end of life, and is currently supporting the proposed Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill. The Bill was created with their support alongside coalition partners Dignity in Dying Scotland, and Friends at the End.
The new bill, to legalise assisted dying in Scotland, is due to be introduced to the Scottish Parliament in the coming months, in a fresh attempt by its supporters to get the measure enacted for the first time in the UK.
In November 2022, Liam McArthur MSP earned the right to introduce a new members bill which would legalise personal choice in assisted dying for mentally competent, terminally ill adults in Scotland with appropriate safeguards in place. The Bill received support from 36 cross-party MSPs.
