DESCRIPTION:

As part of his UK stage tour, Hans Rey, the former World Champion, Mountain Bike Hall of Famer and adventurer, takes us on a journey through his remarkable career.

A session of short films (see running order below) that explore two-wheeled adventures around the world, followed by a screening of the winner of this year’s amateur Outdoor Shorts competition.

After the break, and as part of his UK stage tour, Hans Rey, former World Champion, Mountain Bike Hall of Famer and adventurer, will take us on an inspiring journey through his long career. Hans will cover his early riding days, his extreme biking feats – including the first bike descent of Mt. Kenya, riding the Indian Himalayas, the Alps, Inca Trail and the Sinai Desert – and how his charity Wheels4Life is changing the world, one bike at a time.

Short films:

Pedal, 7.58’, Dir Scott Hardesty, US

Hera Van Willick rides her bike across continents, fully self-supported. This is her journey and – 43 countries down – a look at what she has learned along the way.

Blue, 4’, Dir Aly Nicklas, US

Shot in Alaska, this is a fantastical journey into a young girl’s imagination as, fresh off training wheels, she begins to explore what’s possible on her bike … her eyes naturally drifting to the mountains.

Escape, 8.10’, Dir Anjali Nayar, Canada

JaBig, a Montreal-based DJ, buys a bike on a whim and decides to attempt to beat the record for the longest continuous bike ride in a single country.

RJ Ripper, 19.25’, Dir Joey Schusler/Ben Page, US/UK

The streets of Kathmandu may not seem like a typical breeding ground for world-class mountain bikers, but then again there is nothing typical about Rajesh (RJ) Magar – a four-time National Champion by the age of 21.

Session kindly sponsored by Adrenalin Uplift. Presented by Speakers from the Edge.
