An experienced international landscape photographer, Allan Wright has embraced many distinctive natural and urban elements in his working life – all driven by a quest to find uniqueness and an “essence of place”. Though his roots for decades were out west in the wilds of Galloway, he has in recent years found a home in Peebles and become absorbed in town life – including opening Zenwalls, a commercial art gallery on the High Street.

The work presented in his new book encompasses a territory that reaches out from a Peebles-centric core to the southwest almost to the source of the River Tweed, and to the east as far as Yair. “In my quest for that essence of place, I hope that people will recognise and feel their personal connection with this wonderful area,” comments Allan. “I offer this work with a feeling of sincere gratitude for the opportunity I have been given to be part of this community.”
