A rehearsed reading of a new play inspired by the stories shared by the men of Peebles and District Men’s Shed.
Three men who have never met before find banter, bird boxes and biscuits in a fictional men’s shed in this new play written by Clare Prenton. Clare developed the play after working with the members of Peebles and District Men’s Shed to explore male isolation and men’s mental health and wellbeing. The resulting one act play celebrates camaraderie, companionship… and custard creams. It also explores – and perhaps explodes – the myth that Men Don’t Talk.
Men Don’t Talk is presented as a work in progress/rehearsed reading with a cast of three professional actors. It was funded by Inspiring Life – The Evie Douglas Memorial Fund and the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles.
