Kate Young is a Scottish singer, fiddle player and composer, who last performed at the Eastgate as part of Mr McFalls Chamber. She returns to take centre stage accompanied by master fiddle player Patsy Reid (formerly Braebach) and virtuoso cellist and player of the musical saw Su-ann-Lee.
Kate’s recently released debut album – ‘Swimmings of the Head’ – includes a broad range of songs and tune sets, many of which combine different traditional music sources with self-penned works. This is perfectly complemented by the other two musicians in her trio who have each performed in a range of styles from classical to Scottish roots to traditional Indian. As well as performing as Assistant Principal Cellist with Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Su-a-Lee has recorded on her musical Saw for Eric Clapton and performed at Celtic Connections with Jack Bruce of Cream and the folk band Lau.
