DESCRIPTION:

A packed programme of creative workshops to provide energy for the mind, body and spirit.

Inspiring Life Day is back with another packed programme of creative workshops, information stalls, performances and discussions all designed to provide energy and food for the mind, body and spirit – to help everyone to become a happier healthier version of themselves. Inspiring Life Day is funded by the Evie Douglas Memorial Fund

1pm                 Mind the Music! with Nomad Beat

This hour-long workshop gives a taste of Nomad Beat’s Mind the Music project for mental well-being.  Sing and play in tutor led groups (no musical knowledge necessary) then take part in an up-beat drumming session (pun intended!).

2.15pm            Creative Dance with Sara Boles

Explore how dance can help improve physical and mental well-being. No previous dance experience required.

3.30pm            Don’t Judge a Book by it’s Cover with Bridget Dickson from See Me Scotland

An opportunity to look at how any form of the written word can help support mental health – with an emphasis on self-care and self-acceptance.

4.45pm            Creative Communication with Sam Swinton

A drama workshop focusing on self-awareness. This is a practical session using voice, body language and movement.

6pm                 Watch, Listen and Discuss

Stride, The Eastgate Theatre’s young dance company, performs Artistic Adventures – Story Telling a new work which focuses on the spoken word.  Sara Boles (choreographer and rehearsal director) leads this collaborative piece with influences from Riona Logan (written word) and Jacqui Naysmith (choreography).   The performance is followed by a talk by physiotherapist Dr Chad Woods on the links between physical fitness and mental health.

The final event of the day is a panel discussion about self-care and self-awareness led by Caroline Adam with Dr Chad Woods (physiotherapist), Clare Prenton (writer & director), Karen Lerpiniere (mindfulness coach, The Mental Health Monologues) and Riona Logan (creative writer).

Between workshops enjoy Faces of Recovery the photography exhibition by Brian Sutherland, browse the information market and enjoy pop-up performances in the theatre café.

FREE but please book tickets for workshops in advance as spaces are limited.
