DESCRIPTION:

In this film Gina McCormack, internationally acclaimed violinist and Patron of Music in Peebles introduces the first concert to be performed at the Eastgate since  lockdown.   She is then joined by pianist Nigel Clayton to perform Midsummer Music.

Music In Peebles presents two specially commissioned films of the Midsummer Music concerts performed at the Eastgate Theatre.

The latest features two of the best-known figures from the Scottish chamber music scene. Marcus Barcham Stevens (violin) and Christina Lawrie (piano). Centrepiece of the recital is the second violin sonata by the remarkable 19th century French composer Louise Farrenc. Christina Lawrie says, “Louise Farrenc’s magnificent Sonata no. 2 is a bold, large-scale work with gorgeous melodies, harmonies and virtuosic sweep.” The programme also includes Bach’s famous Air on a G String, a Chopin Ballade and a Scottish folk set. Truly something for everyone.
