Talk at the John Buchan Story Museum, Chambers Institution, Peebles.
Standing proudly within the quadrangle of the Chambers Institution, the Peebleshire War Memorial has long been thought of as one of the finest in Scotland. It was unveiled in October 1922, nearly 100 years ago, by Field Marshal Earl Haig.
The evening talk in the John Buchan Story Museum nearby, highlights the attendance at this event of John Buchan with Haig and his other military connections.
The story of the design of the War Memorial will also be explored and there will be some pictures and articles on display. A chance to look around this small gem of a museum in the town and appreciate this important unveiling event in 1922.
