Playing Britten, Haydn and Mozart
The leading UK string quartet of its generation presents a fascinating programme that opens with Benjamin Britten’s first quartet which was written when he was only 28 years old. This is followed by one of Haydn’s fine Opus 20 quartets. Te concert ends with Mendelssohn’s last completed work written as a heartfelt homage to his beloved sister Fanny following her sudden death.
“the players are superb, but beyond that, they blend together as though of one mind – the touchstone of any such group” Classicalsource
