Former electrician Daiori decided to become a musician after seeing Christy Moore perform. He is now considered to be one of most important singers and bouzouki players to come out of Ireland.
After a promising debut album in 2009, Daoirí spent several years studying traditional music before working with artists including Christy Moore, Dónal Lunny, Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, Alan Doherty, Danú, Dervish and Julie Fowlis. He launched his solo career at Celtic Connections, in 2016. His second album True Born Irishman was released in October and the following spring he won two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – Best Traditional Track and Best Newcomer.
Daiori has since performed in Australia, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, The Czech Republic, USA and Portugal. In 2018 he toured the UK with Transatlantic Sessions and recorded his latest album with Dónal Lunny in the producer’s chair.
