During World War II, an intelligence officer meets and falls in love with a French Resistance fighter only to find years later, when they are married and have a child, that she is a German spy.
In 1942 North Africa, intelligence officer Max (Brad Pitt) falls in love with French Resistance fighter Marianne (Marion Cotillard) following a mission in Casablanca. Later, in London, they meet again and rekindle their romance and get married. Max then receives alarming news that his wife and the mother of his child is likely a Nazi spy, and begins to investigate her.
