Welcoming everyone – babies and visiting bikers, large walking groups and small groups of friends, regulars, occasional and first time visitors the Eastgate’s family friendly café is the daytime heart of the Eastgate.

The menu is continually refreshed to increase the range of tasty food and drinks on offer, and to cater for customers who require (or prefer) gluten and/or dairy free options. The café is famous for its selection of scrumptious cakes from white chocolate and raspberry, to carrot cake and Victoria sponge all sourced from local bakers as are many of the traybakes, biscuits and scones.

Hot food is centred on lunchtime with a delicious soup of the day, toasted sandwiches and teacakes. Sandwiches, with a range of fillings, are made to order as are the children’s lunchboxes.

In the evening the mood is very different as the busy café becomes a relaxed theatre bar where audience members have the opportunity to relax and enjoy a drink before the show. Spirits, wines, bottled beers, and soft drinks are served before performances and at the interval.

Whenever you visit, the Cafe team extend a warm welcome.

The Eastgate café is fully accessible and was named the first dementia-friendly café in the Scottish Borders.
