Welcome to the 2019 Peebles Outdoor Film Festival!

January is not an easy month … the festivities are over, you’re back to work, it’s cold, dark and a wee bit miserable. But we have the PERFECT remedy! Come and be re-energised by a dazzling mix of adventure films, inspiring speakers and outdoor sessions at the fifth Peebles Outdoor Film Festival!

From a ‘best of’ selection of adventure films from around the word to big names and local heroes from the worlds of ocean conservation, mountain biking, adventure filmmaking, wildlife photography, bikepacking, climbing, wild swimming and more, there’s so much to enjoy at this year’s festival.

This year we also step out of the theatre building with special bikepacking and sports injury sessions together with local partners, plus of course the chance to ride, walk and explore the Tweed Valley with expert local guides.

And don’t forget the great food, special offers and outdoor gear courtesy of festival sponsors, all available in the Eastgate café.

For the full programme, please click on the banner above. Tickets can be booked online using the INDIVIDUAL EVENTS LISTING on the theatre’s home page (head to dates 25-27 Jan, or search using POFF), or just call Box Office on 01721 725777.

Short film programme

Each year, we screen a carefully-curated programme of around 30 short and feature-length films covering a wide range of interests, from adventure sports and travel to more quirky celebrations of outdoor and mountain culture. The result is a bespoke selection of films that will make you laugh, cry, gasp, or inspire you to plan adventures of your own.

The short films are packaged together in themed sessions that tie in with each headline speaker – expect selections that cover everything from adventures in the world’s oceans to exploring wild places, and quite a bit in between. The full film schedule will be published here a little nearer the time.

Outdoor Shorts competition

As well as our professional film programme, we also invite entries to our annual Outdoor Shorts competition – a chance for amateur filmmakers to showcase their creative skills to a wider audience.

Shortlisted films will be made available online in the build up to the festival, with a public vote for best film and an overall special Judges’ Prize – with the winning film shown on the big screen alongside our professional programme as part of our final session on Sunday 27 January.

A huge thank you to all of this year’s sponsors, supporters and partners – all local to Peebles and the surrounding area.
