The Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra returns with a fresh new line up bringing the talent, improvisational skills, exuberance and verve now eagerly anticipated when they take to the stage. The future of jazz in Scotland is assured as these gifted players, under the direction of Tommy Smith (Scotland’s most distinguished jazz musician), play a repertoire ranging from classics by Ellington, Basie, Mingus and Gillespie to present day big band tracks by Fred Sturm and Florian Ross.
Enjoy an evening of wonderful jazz as these young musicians bring the music alive, playing with a collective maturity well beyond their years and featuring soloists of startling ambition and creativity.
